Basketball Recap: Meridian Mustangs vs. Calvary Baptist Academy Kings
On Tuesday, the Meridian Mustangs didn't have quite enough to beat the Calvary Baptist Academy Kings and fell 48-45. That's two games in a row now that the Mustangs have lost by exactly three points.
Calvary Baptist Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Braydon Schwartzkopf led the charge by going 5 for 10 on his way to 12 points in addition to eight assists and seven boards. The dominant performance gave Schwartzkopf a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Daniels, who went 5 of 6 on his way to 13 points and three steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Meridian and nudges their season record down to 4-4. As for Calvary Baptist Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-8.
Meridian will head out to square off against Pinconning at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Pinconning will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Meridian surely won't give up without a fight. As for Calvary Baptist Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Coleman at 7:30 p.m.
