Football Game Preview: Wilson Wildcats vs. Ennis Lions + How To Watch

The Wilson Wildcats will take on the Ennis Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Wilson lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Hillcrest, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's matchup. The Wildcats' defense stepped up to hand the Panthers a 48-0 shutout on Friday. The game marked the Wildcats' most dominant victory of the season.

Wilson got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Reid Kirkland out in front who threw for 205 yards and four touchdowns, and also rushed for 33 yards. Kirkland's passing game has become a key predictor of the Wildcats' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-5 otherwise. Eithan Ramirez was another key back, rushing for 107 yards and a pair of TDs on only 14 carries.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Ennis challenged Corsicana on Thursday. The Lions really took it to the Tigers for the full four quarters, racking up a 42-13 victory. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-7.

Wilson better keep an eye on WENDERIUS JONES. He was instrumental in Ennis' win, rushing for 90 yards and three scores. JONES has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last three times he's played.

Ennis didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. AARON LAZA was the real danger to the passing game, picking up two interceptions all by himself. Ennis got some further help from LAZA: he made three total tackles and snagged two interceptions which he returned one-yard for a touchdown.

Ennis has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 33.0 points over those games. As for Wilson, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

Wilson was taken down by Ennis 55-23 in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
