Basketball Recap: Aletheia Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Aletheia Christian Academy played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Central Christian Saints 63-23. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 539th in Florida, while the Saints are ranked 168th in Alabama).

When it comes to explaining why Aletheia Christian Academy lost, don't look at Jaylee Nance. Despite the final result, she posted 11 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Zoe Dailey, who scored seven points.

Hayes Turner continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Central Christian, going 14 for 26 on her way to 31 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. The dominant performance gave Turner a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayden Lippincott, who put up six points along with eight steals and five rebounds.

Aletheia Christian Academy's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-8. As for Central Christian, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 14-1.

Aletheia Christian Academy has already played their next matchup (against East Hill Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Central Christian will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Jones Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 28th. Central Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.3 points per game this season.
