Preview: Wylie East Raiders vs. South Garland Titans
After seven games on the road, Wylie East is heading back home. They will take on the South Garland Titans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Last Friday, Wylie East came up short against Brewer and fell 56-46. While losing is never fun, Wylie East can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 481st, while Brewer is ranked 61st).
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to South Garland, who are still winless after their ninth matchup. They fell 64-57 to Rowlett on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite their defeat, South Garland saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Elijah Darden, who scored 28 points, was perhaps the best of all. Darden scored a full 49.1% of South Garland's points, the ninth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Medford Body was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Wylie East now has a losing record at 4-5. As for South Garland, they bumped their record down to 0-9 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home.
Wylie East didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against South Garland in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 56-51 win.
