Soccer Recap: Friday's Victory Is Belleville West's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

Belleville West kept a clean sheet against Wheaton Academy on Friday. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Warriors. Given Belleville West's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 35th, while Wheaton Academy are ranked 100th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Belleville West is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 32 goals over those eight matchups. As for Wheaton Academy, the loss snapped their winning streak at seven games and leaves them with a 9-3-3 record.

Looking ahead, Belleville West will be taking part in a tournament against Cedar Grove-Belgium at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Cedar Grove-Belgium will roll in looking for their 13th straight win, something Belleville West surely won't give up without a fight. As for Wheaton Academy, they will take on Berwyn/Cicero Morton in a tournament on Saturday.
