Lockney is 1-7 against Abernathy since March of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Lockney Longhorns will take on the Abernathy Antelopes at 11:00 a.m. Lockney is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
Having struggled with nine losses in a row, Lockney turned things around against Morton on Monday. They blew past the Indians 18-1. The high-scoring effort was just what the Longhorns needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Madison Marmolejo made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Joscelin Guerrero was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in stolen bases. Tori Luna also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Meanwhile, Abernathy lost 16-5 to Liberty on Tuesday. The Antelopes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Scotlann Bickel made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-2. Mollie Shipley was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Three bases.
Even though they lost, Abernathy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .394 or higher in four consecutive games.
Lockney's record now sits at 2-9. As for Abernathy, they suffered their first road defeat, dropping their record down to 6-6.
Saturday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Lockney has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .582. However, it's not like Abernathy struggles in that department as they've averaged .527. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lockney suffered a grim 14-3 defeat to Abernathy when the teams last played last Saturday. Can Lockney avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
