Football Recap: East Hamilton's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak on the Road

If East Hamilton was riding high fresh off their 42-7 takedown of Soddy Daisy last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hurricanes fell just short of the McMinn County Cherokees by a score of 50-48 on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (42), the Hurricanes still had to take the loss.

East Hamilton's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Wyatt Miller, who threw for 407 yards and five TDs while picking up 16.3 yards per attempt, and also punched in a pair of scores on the ground. Jaden Haywood was another key player, picking up 194 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Lincoln Watson went supernova For McMinn County., rushing for 268 yards and six TDs. Those 268 rushing yards gave Watson a new career-high.

East Hamilton's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 8-2. As for McMinn County, they moved to 6-4 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. East Hamilton will head out to challenge Columbia Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hurricanes' defense better be ready for this one: the Lions have averaged an impressive 31 points per game this season. As for McMinn County, they will venture away from home to square off against Lincoln County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 857 yards in their previous games.
