Softball Recap: Velva/Drake/Anamoose Has No Trouble Against Garrison

Velva/Drake/Anamoose got themselves on the board against Garrison on Saturday, but Garrison never followed suit. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over the Troopers. The Aggies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.

Grace Balas made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jenna Lohnes, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Abigail Hudkins was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Velva/Drake/Anamoose's victory bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Garrison, they dropped their record down to 0-8 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Velva/Drake/Anamoose has already played their next contest (against Glenburn), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Garrison, they will be playing at home against South Prairie/Max at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
