League recap: Montrose moves into state Top 25

Montrose was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Palmer Ridge. The Indians came in at 22 in the state poll after placing at number 27 last week.

Montrose took down the Bears 48-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Mike Rocha ran for 128 yards in the win.

Grand Junction's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. TYLER HEINSMA threw for 147 yards and THERON VERNA had 65 yards receiving. On the ground AUSTIN LEWIS contributed 185 yards. KALEB JOHNSON helped Grand Junction's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 58 yards.

Robbie Owens' team's dynamic duo of HEINSMA and VERNA proved to be unstoppable against Mountain Vista, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.

Grand Junction led the league in scoring this week after putting up 49 points on the Golden Eagles. LEWIS caught 1 passes for 11 yards during the win.
