Basketball Recap: Rensselaer Central Takes a Loss

Rensselaer Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Winamac Warriors, falling 70-47. The Bombers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

It was another big night for Brendan Hines, who went 6 of 8 from beyond the arc en route to 24 points for Winamac. Thanks to that strong game, Hines now owns an excellent 46.6% shooting accuracy. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Burgess, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 11 points and five boards.

Rensselaer Central's defeat dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Winamac, they pushed their record up to 11-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Rensselaer Central will venture away from home to challenge Delphi Community at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Delphi Community is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.2 points per game this season. As for Winamac, they will host Westville at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Winamac also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 53.2 points per game.
