Byrd extended the longest winning streak in 5A District 1 this week by beating Captain Shreve, 28-3. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Yellow Jackets.
Airline made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,811 from 2,301. The improvement was the result of a 28-21 victory over Haughton last week.
Captain Shreve's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Gators feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Eric Mosley has thrown for 213 yards this season, while Donovan Banks has 7 catches for 94 yards.
The most important game in the league this week will be the match up between Parkway and Byrd. The Panthers enters the contest ranked eighth in the state, while Mike Suggs' team ranks seventh.
The Gators' offense has racked up 73 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while the Buccaneers have allowed only 96 on the year.
Parkway led the league in scoring this week after putting up 63 points on Southwood.
