Preview: Harlan Hawks vs. Taft Raiders
Harlan is 6-1 against Taft since December of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Harlan Hawks will be playing at home against the Taft Raiders at 8:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Wednesday, Harlan lost to Jay at home by a decisive 64-48 margin. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Harlan has scored all season.
The losing side was boosted by Zakee Thompson, who scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Josiah Jones, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Taft's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their 17th straight loss. They were the victim of a tough 86-62 loss at the hands of Jay. While losing is never fun, Taft can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 647th, while Jay is ranked 146th).
Harlan's defeat dropped their record down to 19-11. As for Taft, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost 19 of their last 21 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-25 record this season.
Everything went Harlan's way against Taft in their previous matchup back in January as Harlan made off with a 65-43 win. Does Harlan have another victory up their sleeve, or will Taft turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
