Basketball Recap: Christ Covenant Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

Christ Covenant had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They had just enough and edged the Trinity Christian Tigers out 43-41. This was a revenge game for the Spartans: when they faced off against the Tigers back in January, they had to take a 43-38 defeat.

Christ Covenant had a senior duo take command as Eliza Entzminger went 7 of 16 on her way to 19 points along with eight boards and four blocks and Caroline Gibbs went 5 for 8 to rack up 16 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Entzminger has scored at least a third of Christ Covenant's points.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Macey Skinner, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Those 22 points gave Skinner a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Riley Burnham, who posted 12 points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

Christ Covenant pushed their record up to 13-6 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.1 points over those games. As for Trinity Christian, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 23-5.

Coming up, Christ Covenant will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Gramercy Christian at 6:00 p.m. As for Trinity Christian, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 64-17 victory against Faith Christian Academy on the 7th.
