Poly and Liberty pushed the score to 11-9 the last time they played Liberty, but on Thursday defenses reigned supreme. The Bears narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Bison 2-1. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 11-9 win back in March.

Poly's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Mayan De Nava, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Poly has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Liberty, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-9.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Poly will square off against rival Arlington at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Liberty is set to face off against their familiar foe Lakeside at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
