Baseball Recap: Citrus Extends Road Winning Streak to Three

Citrus barely beat Lake Weir the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Citrus never let Lake Weir get on the board and left with a 7-0 win on Monday. Citrus hasn't had any issues with Lake Weir recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Cole Lawrence looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Citrus let Waylon Williamson and Tristan Beck run wild. Williamson scored a run and stole Four bases. while going 1-for-2, while Beck scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 3-for-4. Those three stolen bases gave Beck a new career-high. Trae Hopkins also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Citrus pushed their record up to 5-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Lake Weir, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Citrus will welcome Springstead at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Springstead is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season. As for Lake Weir, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Forest at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
