Gate City guard can do it all – with a little swagger.

Move over Allen Iverson, there's a new single-season scoring king in Virginia.

Gate City (Va.) senior Mac McClung scored 41 points Tuesday night in a 80-43 win over Lebanon, bringing his season total to 958.

That surpassed Iverson's previous mark of 948 set in 1993 for the most points in a single season in Virginia High School League (VHSL) history. Moses Malone had held the record prior to Iverson.

Here's video of the record-breaking basket:
Folks in Gate City are excited about McClung. Scott Allen detailed the historic night for the Washington Post.

Perhaps the most impressive aspect of the record is that McClung needed just 26 games to reach that number (38.3 points per game) while Iverson got to 948 in 30 games.

McClung is headed to Georgetown and regarded as a Top 250 player in the Class of 2018 by 247Sports. Gate City will carry a 25-1 record into Friday's postseason game with the lone loss coming at the prestigious Arby's Classic to North Mecklenburg (Huntersville, N.C.) in December.
