Interlake's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They never let the Sammamish Totems get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory. Considering the Saints have won six contests by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Albany Aponte (2027) made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Indigo Joseph (2028) was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Lexie Cisneros (2029) also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Interlake always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Interlake's record is now 11-5. As for Sammamish, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season.
Interlake will venture away from home to face off against Cedarcrest at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Red Wolves will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Saints surely won't give up without a fight. As for Sammamish, they will welcome Newport - Bellevue at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
