Baseball Recap: St. Bernard's Loss Ends Nine-Game Winning Streak on the Road

St. Bernard dropped their record down to 13-4 on Monday, which also ended the team's nine-game streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of the St. Vincent de Paul Mustangs by a score of 5-4. The Crusaders were not able to make up for their loss to the Mustangs from their previous meeting back in March of 2017.

Michael Manzi was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Adam Wagner was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

As for St. Vincent de Paul, the win snapped their losing streak at 11 games and leaves them with a 3-13 record. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since March 13th.

On St. Vincent de Paul's side, Will Hankins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on ten hits.

At the plate, Omar Mughannam was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Tyler Chelew also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

St. Bernard's has already played their next contest, a 9-8 defeat against Ferndale on the 22nd. As for St. Vincent de Paul, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 3-2 loss against Healdsburg on the 23rd.
