Baseball Recap: Holton Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Holton's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 14-7 margin over the Hiawatha Red Hawks. The high-scoring effort was just what the Wildcats needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Holton let Grant Warner and Cade Colberg run wild. Warner went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs, while Colberg went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Colberg is becoming a predictor of Holton's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is 2-1 (and 4-8 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Jarett Abel, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Holton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March.

With the victory, Holton broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-9. As for Hiawatha, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-8-1.

Holton will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Red Hawks: the pair will be back at it again later today.
