Basketball Recap: Falfurrias Starts Season with Win Against Kaufer

Falfurrias took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Friday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 70-28 win over the Kaufer Seahawks. The Fightin' Jerseys have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Seahawks, too.

Falfurrias was led to victory by Quisto Sanchez and Tj Forest. Sanchez shot 41% from the field on his way to 21 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals, while Forest went 9-for-15 to rack up 18 points and four steals. That's the most points Forest has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Gabriel Cantu, who had eight points.

Falfurrias smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in six consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Falfurrias is headed away from home for the first time to challenge Zapata at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Kaufer, they will head out to take on Incarnate Word Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
