Soccer Recap: North Mecklenburg Comes Up Short + How To Watch

North Mecklenburg fought the good fight in their overtime match against Independence on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 2-1. North Mecklenburg have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.

Their goal came courtesy of Jonah Meier, who's now up to 12 this season.

North Mecklenburg's loss dropped their record down to 13-7-2. As for Independence, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-4.

North Mecklenburg and Independence should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. The Vikings will take on West Charlotte at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (165 vs. 427). Meanwhile, Independence (ranked 84th) will meet Butler (ranked 259th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
