Baseball Recap: Lourdes Snags Sixth Win in Last Eight Games

Lourdes had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Dover-Eyota on Tuesday. Lourdes' pitcher stepped up to hand Dover-Eyota a 10-0 shutout. Considering Lourdes has won six matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The result came thanks to Jack McCabe's shutout, as he gave up just two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Nicholas Bowron was a standout: he went 4-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one double. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Kottschade, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Lourdes was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Lourdes has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Dover-Eyota, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-12.

Coming up, Lourdes is taking a road trip to challenge Byron at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Dover-Eyota does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
