Basketball Recap: Mooresville Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

A well-balanced attack led Mooresville over Bloomington North in every quarter on their way to victory on Saturday. Everything went the Mooresville Pioneers' way against the Bloomington North Cougars as the Mooresville Pioneers made off with a 52-31 victory. The Pioneers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Cougars, too.

Mooresville had a senior duo take command as Randee Garringer dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 boards and Ava Shafer posted seven points along with eight boards and six assists. The dominant performance gave Shafer a new career-high in assists. MaKenzie Holtzclaw was another key player, putting up ten points.

Mooresville was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Bloomington North's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Robbennolt, who had nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Audrey Burton, who posted four points and five rebounds.

The win (which was Mooresville's fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.6 points per game. As for Bloomington North, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.

Mooresville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 64-32 victory against Greenwood on the 17th. As for Bloomington North, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-22 defeat against Bloomington South on the 19th.
