Baseball Recap: Daniel Gets the Win

It may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Daniel ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They skirted past the Fountain Inn Fury 8-7. That's more bragging rights for the Lions, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Ian McCrary tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Spencer Conn, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-5. Another player making a difference was Quint Cumbie, who scored a run while going 5-for-5.

Daniel's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Fountain Inn, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-2-1.

Daniel will have a chance to go back-to-back against Fountain Inn: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
