Softball Recap: Bishop Ireton Cardinals vs. St. John's Cadets

Bishop Ireton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 6-3 to the St. John's Cadets. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Bishop Ireton of the 20-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2023.

Bishop Ireton saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Annie Simon, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

On St. John's side, Sela Farrington spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits.

On the hitting side, Yasmine Burrell was incredible, going 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Liz Macyko, who went 1-for-3 with a triple, a run, and an RBI.

Bishop Ireton's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for St. John's, their win bumped their record up to 7-4.

As for St. John's, they will play host again on Saturday to welcome St. Mary's Ryken, where first pitch is scheduled at 5:00 p.m. St. Mary's Ryken will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something St. John's surely won't give up without a fight.
