Basketball Recap: Toledo Christian Comes Up Short

Toledo Christian and Gibsonburg squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Toledo Christian had to settle for second. They fell 37-29 to the Gibsonburg Golden Bears. While the Eagles didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Golden Bears 8-3 in the first quarter.

Gibsonburg found their leader in sophomore Elly Evarts, who dropped a triple-double with 18 points, 11 boards, and 11 steals. Evarts has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 15 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ava Dawson, who posted ten points.

Toledo Christian's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 11-13. As for Gibsonburg, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.

Toledo Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Gibsonburg, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 44-36 defeat against Carey on the 22nd.
