Basketball Recap: Guilford's Run of Six Straight Victories Now Over

Guilford was the 50-24 winner over Rockford Auburn when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Guilford Vikings fell just short of the Rockford Auburn Knights by a score of 48-45 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Vikings have suffered against the Knights since November 27, 2021.

Several Vikings players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jaleese Williams, who posted ten points along with six assists and five rebounds. Aishah Smith was another key player, putting up four points in addition to ten boards and four steals.

With the defeat, Guilford broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 16-5. As for Rockford Auburn, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 12-7 record this season.

Guilford wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 65-33 victory against Beloit Memorial on the 20th. Rockford Auburn has also already played their next contest (against Belvidere North), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
