Juneau-Douglas proved they can win big on Friday (they won by three) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Sitka Wolves 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Crimson Bears have posted since September 27th.
Juneau-Douglas took Sitka into a fifth set where they got it done with a five-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 26-24, 20-25, 22-25, 15-10.
Lavinia Ma'Ake paced Juneau-Douglas' offense, picking up 16 kills. Ma'Ake got some help from Brie Powers and her 20 assists. Finally, Gwen Nizich kept Juneau-Douglas' defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.
Juneau-Douglas has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-18-7 record this season. As for Sitka, they dropped their record down to 18-21-9 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road.
