Baseball Recap: Argo Takes a Loss

Argo extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 11-18 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Reavis Rams. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rams this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-1 on Monday.

Argo saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carlos Gracia, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that Gracia has hit this season.

As for Reavis, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 21-9. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games.

On Reavis' side, Michael Mendez tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. Mendez has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Tino Villagomez, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Anthony Perez, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Argo will be playing in front of their home fans against Chicago University at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Argonauts are facing the Maroons at the right time seeing as the Maroons are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Reavis, they will head out on the road to face off against Lemont at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
