C Little Ten recap Oct. 23, 2012
Dexter extended the longest winning streak in C Little Ten this week by beating Maine Central Institute, 42-8. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Stearns was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from ninth to seventh in the league. Earlier in the week, the Minutemen defeated Washington Academy 39-13.
Bucksport's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Matthew Stewart threw for 159 and three touchdowns and Josh Gray had 101 yards receiving. On the ground Asher Bowden chipped in 150 yards. Mitchell Burgess helped Bucksport's passing attack out by catching three balls for 33 yards.
The Golden Bucks' Stewart and Gray have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Stewart has thrown for 811 yards this season, while Gray, a 5-foot-5 receiver, has 34 catches for 451 yards. The Huskies' Johnathan Santiago leads the league in rushing yards with 877.
A big matchup in C Little Ten this week will be when Bucksport takes on Dexter. At the moment, the Golden Bucks are in fifth, while Tim Wilson's team is in fourth.
Foxcroft led the league in scoring this week after putting up 49 points on Mattanawcook.
