Basketball Recap: Grovetown Comes Up Short

Grovetown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 58-46 to the Greenbrier Wolfpack. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wolfpack apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2020.

When it comes to explaining why Grovetown lost, don't look at Amare Pryce. Despite the final result, he went 6 of 14 en route to 17 points. Another player making a difference was Marcus Curry, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Greenbrier to victory, but perhaps none more so than Martez Ford, who went 6 of 15 on his way to 18 points along with six assists and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Farlow, who went 6 of 12 en route to 15 points and seven rebounds.

Grovetown's defeat dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Greenbrier, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.

Grovetown will venture away from home to challenge Newton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Grovetown is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.9 points per game this season. As for Greenbrier, they will take on Lakeside at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Greenbrier also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 59 points per game.
