Basketball Game Preview: Elmore County Panthers vs. Stanhope Elmore Mustangs + Official Tickets

The Elmore County Panthers will square off against the Stanhope Elmore Mustangs at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Elmore County has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Stanhope Elmore will arrive with six straight wins.

Elmore County came up short against Glenwood on Tuesday, falling 48-26.

While Stanhope Elmore didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past Tallassee 52-28 on Thursday. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 23 points or more this season.

Stanhope Elmore's win came from a few key players Elmore County will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Heaven Bailey, who shot 46% from the field to rack up 19 points in addition to eight assists and eight steals. Bailey is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Teonna Davis was another key player, dropping a double-double with ten points and 12 rebounds.

Elmore County's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Stanhope Elmore, their victory bumped their record up to 12-2.

Elmore County couldn't quite finish off Stanhope Elmore in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 and fell 51-48. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
