Ohio County had lost five straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 5-18 to make it six. They lost 8-1 to the McLean County Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-3 on Tuesday.

Ohio County got a good showing from Jakoby White, who tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. White has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

As for McLean County, the win was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-4. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games.

On McLean County's side, Jax Lee spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Connor Mitchuson, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Corbin Martin, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Coming up, Ohio County will welcome Hancock County at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for McLean County, they will head out to challenge Bowling Green at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Purples will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight.
