Preview: Eagle Rock Eagles vs. Taft Toreadors
Two dominant signal callers in Reilly Brousseau and Devon Conroy are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Eagle Rock Eagles will be playing at home against the Taft Toreadors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Last Friday, Eagle Rock was the victim of a tough 35-13 defeat at the hands of Franklin. Eagle Rock has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Eagle Rock's loss came about despite a quality game from Brousseau, who rushed for 55 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 209 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Taft's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They were dealt a 83-6 loss at the hands of Birmingham. While losing is never fun, Taft can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 822nd, while Birmingham is ranked 178th).
Eagle Rock's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Taft, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-8.
We should be in store for an exciting game Friday as both teams have no problem gaining yardage. Eagle Rock has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 412.2 total yards per game. However, it's not like Taft struggles in that department as they've been averaging 376.7 per game. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
Everything came up roses for Eagle Rock against Taft in their previous meeting back in August of 2021 as the squad secured a 50-0 win. Will Eagle Rock repeat their success, or does Taft have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
