The Owyhee Storm will challenge the Mountain View Mavericks at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Neither Owyhee nor Mountain View posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.
Owyhee is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Idaho's top teams: Coeur d'Alene, who was ranked sixth at the time (Owyhee was ranked first). The Storm sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Vikings on Friday.

05/10/25 vs Eagle | 0 |
05/02/25 vs Middleton | 2 |
Heath Sasser-Gunson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gage Haws, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Hallenbeck, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.
Meanwhile, Mountain View unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They lost 10-2 to Middleton. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Mavericks have suffered since April 11, 2024.
Cooper Schneidt made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Braylon Schellhammer, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Mountain View's loss dropped their record down to 22-11. As for Owyhee, their win bumped their record up to 27-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Owyhee has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Mountain View struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Owyhee suffered a grim 9-1 defeat to Mountain View when the teams last played on Thursday. Can the Storm avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
