Recap: Quartz Hill Royals vs. Lakewood Lancers
The Quartz Hill Royals pushed their score all the way to 60 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 66-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lakewood. While losing is never fun, Quartz Hill can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 374th, while Lakewood is ranked 130th).
Quartz Hill's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Ty'Jahwuan Jackson , who scored 21 points along with six rebounds, and Jerimiah Williams who scored 21 points along with five rebounds. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Javon Culver , who scored four points along with six rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Quartz Hill and nudges their season record down to 10-6. As for Lakewood, they pushed their record up to 5-4 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.
Quartz Hill will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against La Serna at 6:00 p.m. on December 14th. La Serna is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak. Lakewood won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Downey at 6:00 p.m. on December 14th. Hopefully Downey focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Wednesday.
