Basketball Recap: Bennett Tigers vs. St. Mary's Academy Wildcats
If Bennett was riding high fresh off their 52-25 takedown of Alameda last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bennett Tigers fell just short of the St. Mary's Academy Wildcats by a score of 39-36 on Thursday. The game was a 19-19 toss-up at halftime, but the Tigers couldn't quite close it out.

When it comes to explaining why Bennett lost, don't look at Jessica Venneberg. Despite the final result, she posted 16 points. Venneberg's evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. Raquel Thorpe was another key player, putting up eight points.

St. Mary's Academy is 9-3 when Nauman posts three or more steals, but 4-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Anderson, who scored six points and eight rebounds.
Bennett's defeat dropped their record down to 14-9. As for St. Mary's Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season.
