Baseball Recap: Humboldt Vikings vs. Haywood Tomcats
Humboldt was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 17th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 16-1 to the Haywood Tomcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tomcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 21-1 last Thursday.
Humboldt saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jeremiah Jones, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-2.
Humboldt's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Haywood, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0.
Coming up, Humboldt will head out on the road to square off against Liberty Tech Magnet at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Humboldt has given up an average of 14.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Haywood, they will challenge Obion County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
