Baseball Game Preview: Westside Rams vs. Wren Hurricanes

The Westside Rams will take on the Wren Hurricanes at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Westside 3.7, Wren 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Westside fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Seneca on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bobcats by a score of 9-8. The Rams haven't had much luck with the Bobcats recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Brody Caudle made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Thomas, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Wren had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 10-1 win. Considering the Hurricanes have won nine games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Wren's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-10. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Westside, their loss dropped their record down to 18-9.

Westside beat Wren 10-6 when the teams last played on Monday. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Hurricanes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
