Piedmont and Castro Valley are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2016, but likely not for long. The Highlanders will be playing at home against the Trojans at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Piedmont 3.5, Castro Valley 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Piedmont's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Saturday's struggle, when Oakland Tech hitters got past them. The Highlanders came up short against the Bulldogs on Saturday, falling 13-6. The Highlanders' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Will Parker and Diego Delventhal did some serious damage despite the final result: Parker went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Delventhal got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Markos Lagios was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Castro Valley entered their tilt with Berkeley on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 9-4 victory over the Yellowjackets.

David Colon was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Arthur Sims, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Castro Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Berkeley only managed six hits.

Castro Valley's win bumped their record up to 14-4. As for Piedmont, their loss dropped their record down to 12-5.

Piedmont couldn't quite finish off Castro Valley in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 6-4. Can the Highlanders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
