Volleyball Recap: Clinton Comes Up Short

Clinton was the 3-1 winner over Knoxville Central when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Dragons fell just short of the Bobcats by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. While the Dragons didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bobcats 25-16 in the first set.

Clinton actually scored more points across those five sets (104-101), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 16-25, 25-19, 25-21, 19-25, 16-14.

Josie Moody paced Clinton's offense, picking up 19 kills. Moody got some help from Alaina Staudenmaier and her 19 assists. Staudenmaier also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Macy Wandell, racking up two apiece.

Clinton's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Knoxville Central, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Clinton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Anderson County on the 21st. As for Knoxville Central, they have also already played their next game, a 3-0 win against Campbell County on the 21st.
