Preview: Comer Tigers vs. Reeltown Rebels
Comer is on a 12-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Reeltown is on a ten-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Comer Tigers will take on the Reeltown Rebels at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Comer extended their postseason success on Friday against Clarke County. They put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 42-22 win. Comer might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won 11 games by 20 points or more this season.
Meanwhile, Reeltown has more to be thankful for after their game against Cottonwood on Friday. Reeltown enjoyed a cozy 41-22 victory over Cottonwood. Reeltown pushed the score to 34-14 by the end of the third, a deficit Cottonwood cut but never quite recovered from.
Reeltown relied on the efforts of Tae Martin, who gained 114 total yards and three touchdowns, and Arthur Woods, who rushed for 216 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries. Woods' longest rush was for an incredible 82 yards.
Another reason for the win was Reeltown's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. Finn Henderson was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself.
Their wins bumped Comer to 13-0 and Clarke County to 7-6.
Comer didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Reeltown in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, but they still walked away with a 28-22 victory. Will Comer repeat their success, or does Reeltown have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
