Basketball Recap: Austwell-Tivoli Piles Up the Points Against Prairie Lea

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Moulton, Austwell-Tivoli was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They took their game with ease, bagging an 80-30 victory over the Prairie Lea Indians. The Redfish have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matchups by 26 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Mackenzi Cortez, who dropped a double-double on 39 points and ten assists. That makes it eight consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Austwell-Tivoli's points. Alison Alvarado was another key player, putting up 19 points.

Austwell-Tivoli is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.6 points per game. As for Prairie Lea, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-19.

Austwell-Tivoli wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 55-8 win against Waelder on the 24th. Prairie Lea has also already played their next match, a 72-10 defeat against Moulton on the 24th.
