Baseball Game Preview: Colonie Central Wolfpack vs. Saratoga Springs Blue Streaks

For the second straight game, Colonie Central will face off against Saratoga Springs. The Wolfpack will challenge the Blue Streaks at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Colonie Central 2.9, Saratoga Springs 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Colonie Central heads in on the heels of a playoff contest on Friday. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (4-3), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. Their loss signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak.

On the hitting side, Jack Covell was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

The victory (which was Saratoga Springs' 11th in a row) raised their record to 17-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.1 runs over those games. As for Colonie Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-5.

Saturday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Colonie Central has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .446.
