Recap: Ridgecroft Rams vs. Halifax Academy Vikings
The Ridgecroft Rams put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 59-30 win over Halifax Academy. Given Ridgecroft's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 22nd, while Halifax Academy is ranked 286th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ridgecroft got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Makenzie Slaughter out in front who scored ten points along with nine assists and six rebounds. The matchup was Slaughter's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Molly Brown, who scored nine points along with 11 rebounds and three steals.
Halifax Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Hayden Hilton, who scored eight points along with 12 rebounds and three steals. Hilton is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Hayden Barlow, who scored ten points.
Ridgecroft pushed their record up to 8-0 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for Halifax Academy, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ridgecroft will square off against Rocky Mount Academy at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. Rocky Mount Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Halifax Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Thales Academy Rolesville at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
