Vestavia Hills is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, they made off with a 20-19 win over Spain Park. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

A big part of Vestavia Hills' victory came down to the chemistry between Julia Rose and her top target Molly Mac Sharp. Rose threw for 264 yards and three touchdowns while Sharp picked up 135 receiving yards and a pair of scores. That's the most receiving yards Sharp has posted since back in September.

Vestavia Hills didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Alexis Rubin, Emma Kate Jacobs, and Kate Fitzpatrick picked up one apiece. Jacobs is also on a roll when it comes to defended passes, as she's now defended at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Vestavia Hills got some further help from Emma Harper: she picked up a sack and made six total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, Central faced Smiths Station in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Red Devils breezed past the Panthers to the tune of 38-7. The Red Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 18 games by 20 points or more this season.

Central's win bumped their record up to 19-0. As for Vestavia Hills, their victory bumped their record up to 28-1.

Vestavia Hills suffered a grim 25-0 defeat to Central when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can the Rebels avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
