Baseball Recap: Jackson Prep Comes Up Short

Jackson Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Second Baptist Eagles. If the Patriots were looking for revenge after losing 7-0 to the Eagles when the teams met back in March of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Kam Roberts was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one double. He has become a key player for Jackson Prep: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-8 otherwise. Luke Essary was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Jackson Prep now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Second Baptist, their record now sits at 5-0-1.

Coming up, Jackson Prep will host Hartfield Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hawks have averaged an impressive 9.6 runs per game this season. As for Second Baptist, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-1 defeat against Northwest Rankin on the 12th.
