Volleyball Game Preview: Northtown Pumas vs. Cristo Rey Jesuit Cristeros

Northtown is 1-8 against Cristo Rey Jesuit since March of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Pumas will head out on the road to challenge the Cristeros at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Northtown took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Rochelle Zell Jewish, sneaking past 2-1. The win continues a trend for the Pumas in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won four in a row.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Northtown who won the one that mattered. The final score came out to 25-9, 26-28, 25-17.

Meanwhile, Cristo Rey Jesuit had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Tigers.

Cristo Rey Jesuit easily took the first set, but they let things get interesting in the other. The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-18.

Northtown pushed their record up to 11-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Cristo Rey Jesuit, their victory bumped their record up to 12-6-1.

Northtown beat Cristo Rey Jesuit 2-0 in their previous meeting two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pumas since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
