Fleming took a 17-run defeat the last time they faced off against Martinsville, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Colonels had just enough and edged out the Bulldogs 7-6. The Colonels' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

The team relied heavily on Tahj Thompson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Avante Phillips also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
