Softball Recap: AVA HUGHES Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Sugar Valley Rural

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Schuylkill Haven, Shamokin Area was happy to have turned things around on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Sugar Valley Rural Phoenix a 20-0 shutout. The Indians haven't had any issues with the Phoenix recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Shamokin Area got a massive performance out of AVA HUGHES, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of AUTUMN KEHLER, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI.

Shamokin Area was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .625. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2024.

Shamokin Area's victory bumped their record up to 6-11. As for Sugar Valley Rural, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-9.

Coming up, Shamokin Area will head out on the road to take on Central Columbia at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sugar Valley Rural does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
